Changes Speed up the processing time of VA disability claims
In January 2013, a step was taken to allow veterans to receive disability benefits much easier. It is estimated that this change would help around 40% of disability claimants. During a 15 month test period, the VA eliminated the need for disabled veterans to go for a follow-up medical exam. Even though this will speed up the application, it won’t be used in every case.
Those who are expected to benefit most from this are those who were previously treated. The new process requires a medical professional to decide if enough information is available to prove that the claimant is disabled. During the test program, around 38% of disability claims were eligible for Acceptable Clinical Evidence also known as ACE. The faster processing allowed the claim processing time to be reduced by two thirds. You can view the entire article at the navytimes.
