In Canada, new rules were recently unveiled to help serving and retired military receive the disability benefits they need. An official who was appointed by the government found that veterans’ rights were being violated. The report also found that certain aspects of the application were often flagged before the official records arrived. Because of this, many applications were not fairly reviewed. Steven Blaney, who is the veterans Affairs Minister, was directed to be more inclusive after this report disclosed the unfair process that often leaves veterans “in the dark” when applying for benefits. Veterans are currently not provided with any information regarding their application and what information is considered.
Steve Blaney claims that they are making the correct decisions to correct this problem and he assures veterans that their applications will be reviewed and fully considered.
